FREEBIE : A Happy New Year phrase in Japanese Hiragana

A new year is coming in a few days! Japanese people send postcards called “Nengajo” for new year greetings. Billions of Nengajo are sent all over Japan and postmen’re really busy in this season.

The typical Japanese phrase to celebrate a new yeas is “Akemashite Omedeto”. AKEMASHITE means that a certain time has ended and a new one comes. OMEDETO means congulaturations. This phrase is used both in new year cards and people’s conversation.

If you want to say it in a more polite way, you can add “GOZAIMASU” at the last like “Akemashite Omedeto Gozaimasu”. I’ll up this one written in Japanese and it’s a freebie. Feel free to use it for any purposes both in personal and commercial.
