Meanings
SHOU = win, excel

If you want to use only one symbol for your tattoo or something artwork, the SHOU letter alone makes sense!

How about the RI?

The RI is a symbol with good meanings, but it does not mean “victory” when used alone!
Background
The SHOU symbol pictures that strong arms pushing up something.
This is the kanji letter frequently used for Japanese names. Many famous Japanese samurai lords had this kanji in their names as well.
The left part of the RI symbol stands for a rice plant and the right one does a sharp knife.
The whole character represents “being useful for agriculture” and that made the meaning of “merit”.
Impressions
It gives powerful, bright, positive, and striking impressions.
