MEI = name, honor, reputation
YO = honor, reputation, to praise
Both symbols have the meaning of “honor”. Can I use each one alone?
If you want to use it alone, I strongly recommend using the YO symbol!
It’s true the MEI symbol has the meaning of “honor”, but it’s when the symbol is used with other kanji letters. If written alone, most of the Japanese interpret it as “name” and it doesn’t give any cool impressions.
On the contrary, the YO symbol surely stands for “honor” even if it’s used alone.
The word MEIYO gives formal, diligent, and a bit classical impressions.
