They are almost the same! But samurai has a master to serve and bushi are not.
The origin of the word SAMURAI is a Japanese verb SABURAU that means “serve somebody as a retainer”.
The left part of the kanji symbol stands for a person and the right one does a temple that symbolizes the residence where noble people dwell in.
The whole character represents “a person who serves a noble master”.
