In this post, I’ll share with you how Zenitsu and Nezuko got married. It’s not told in the main episodes but revealed in an official fan book of Demon Slayer issued after Demon Slayer ended.
They Lived Together in the Kamado House
After the final battle, Tanjiro, Nezuko who became a human, Zenitsu, and Inosuke went back to the Kamado house and lived together.
Nezuko took care of Inosuke well, and Inosuke attached to her. It was like mom and a kid. But Zenitsu got jealous of that and behaved like a child to catch Nezuko’s attention, which amazed Tanjiro.
Tanjiro’s Words Changed Zenitsu
One day, Tanjiro warned Zenitsu to act mature:
“Get your act together if you love Nezuko.”
“If you continue taking advantage of her kindness, you’ll be eventually regarded as nothing but a younger brother. Not as a man.”
His words touched Zenitsu’s heart. Since then, Zenitsu changed his lasy attitude. And after a few days, Zenitsu summoned Nezuko to a flower field and proposed her:
“I love Nezuko-chan so much!!!”
“Please be my bride”
“I’d be decent more, so please answer me in a year”
“I’ll protect Nezuko-chan no matter what, even if I die”
Nezuko Accepted the Marriage Proposal…?
The episode ends when Zenitsu proposed to Nezuko, and the result wasn’t described. But as long as we see the last episode of Demon Slayer, Zenitsu’s proposal succeded and they became a couple.
When Did Nezuko Fall in Love with Him?
According to the first fan book, Nezuko considered Zenitsu as a “weird dandelion.” So at least until Nezuko took her reason and human words back, Zenitsu must have been a strange creature for her.
How did Zenitsu promote a beloved man from the weird dandelion? Nezuko remembered what she experienced while being a demon. So I think she knew and watched Zenitsu fight for her many times. Also, Zenitsu often talked to her and gave her flowers. His feeling for Nezuko seemed sincere (while he was a woman chaser).
Her memory might lead her to notice him after turning back to a human.
