Hi, it’s Junko from Japan! Why is HIMEJIMA GYOMEI always crying? The reason is simple. Gyomei is so SENSITIVE that he’s easily moved to tears. It’s official information provided by the Demon Slayer author, Mr. Gotoge.
How sensitive is Gyomei? For example, he sheds emotional tears when he senses a mom and kid walking together. Or he becomes so sad and tears up when some garbages are scattered on a road. It must be harsh for such a highly sensitive guy to fight against demons and see suffering people.
For me, that was impressive that Gyomei had an angry face instead of shedding tears when Kibutsuji Muzan attacked Ubuyashii Kagaya’s mansion. I think this one scene tells how important Oyakata-sama (Kagaya) is to him.
Why Did Gyomei Become Blind?
According to the official fan book of Demon Slayer, Himejima Gyomei lost his eyesight when he was a baby because of a high fever.
But he had very sharp senses and that helped him act like others. So some people in his village doubted if he was really blind and picked him on. Gyomei’s father was deceased before he was born, and his mother lost her life when giving him birth. It seems Gyomei didn’t have someone who protect him from malicious people.
