Hi, it’s Junko from Japan! Guardian says SHUGOSHA in Japanese. Here’s the Kanji writing for the guardian.

Kanji for GUARDIAN

As you see, the word SHUGOSHA consists of 3 Kanji symbols.

SHU = guard, protect
GO = guard, protect
SHA = person

SHUGOSHA = guardian, protector

The first two letters make the Japanese noun SHUGO, meaning “protection.” The SHA letter means “person” and “those who.”

Both SHU and GO mean “protect” in Japanese while the origin and nuance are slightly different.

As for SHU, the upper part of the letter stands for a roof, and the whole character represents that you protect the building that is important to you.

About the second letter GO, the left part of the symbol means “words” and the right one portrays the hand grasping something. The entire character describes that you give gentle words to someone and try to protect them by pulling them in close.

In Japan, the SHU letter is the most common for meaning “protect.” I think the GO symbol gives more serious and classic impressions while the meanings of both Kanji characters are almost the same.
